JD Moore

Featured Artist

JD was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and has been working as a full time artist in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 2013. A year after he graduated high school in 2010, he started a tattoo apprenticeship at Last Angels Tattoo Co. in Dallas, under Gerald Garcia and graduated to Artist two years later.

He began to seriously pursue a career in studio art in 2017 with a membership to a shared studio space located in Oak Cliff, Tx. called The Basement Gallery which later turned into Elevate Studios and remained open until 2020. This space allowed him to collaborate with other artists in various disciplines and expand my artistic network. While he primarily focused on making oil on canvas paintings, this space gave him access to practice studio photography and learn new skills with tools such as a 3 axis CNC router, a laser cutting machine, and CAD (Computer aided design) 3d modeling software.

During his time at Elevate Studios he was selected to attend artist residences in France and Italy. During my two weeks in France and month in Italy he began to paint larger which lead him to professionally pursue public mural painting back in the states.

In 2022 he was selected to join Cohort 3 at Cedars Union in Dallas, Tx. The competitive eighteen month juried residency program provided personal studio space to myself and 13 other artists within a 7,000 sq. ft building full of high-end tech, tools, and workshops.
